The firm of Boyd, Fernambucq, Vincent & Dunn, P.C., serving clients in the Central Alabama area, is comprised of partners Ron Boyd, Rick Fernambucq, Richard Vincent, and Charles Dunn, and associate Heather Fann, and a support staff of seven.
Since its founding in 1987, the firm has earned a reputation for taking on complex family and matrimonial law matters, and its practice remains devoted exclusively to such cases. The lawyers deal regularly with both federal and state law in property division issues such as alimony, business and asset valuations, division of retirement benefits, and in custody disputes and child support matters, and are well-versed in the tax issues implicated in such cases. The firm assists clients not only in initial divorces but also in modification and enforcement of existing divorce decrees, and in abuse and paternity cases in juvenile court. The firm also handles small business matters, wills, estates, trusts, and corporate business litigation.
The firm’s attorneys are leaders in their practice area, serving in local and national bar associations and lecturing frequently on continuing legal education issues. Founding members Rick Fernambucq and Ron Boyd were founding members of the Family Law Section of the Alabama State Bar and have served as Chair of the Family Law Section and President of the Alabama Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Rick Fernambucq is the author of Family Law in Alabama: Practice and Procedure, scheduled for publication of a fourth edition in 2009, and he contributes quarterly articles on recent developments in family law for the Birmingham Bar and Alabama Family Law Section newsletters, as well as for the Alabama State Bar’s The Alabama Lawyer. Former lawyers of the firm include Presiding Jefferson County Circuit Judges J. Gary Pate and J. Brian Huff.
